Join the Seed of An Anarchist Worker Cooperative Reading Group

Someone has stepped up to answer a call made in a prior article, which reads,

[T]he spaces must be set. We need anarchist spaces specifically dedicated to worker cooperative discussion and connectivity. We should strive to have at least three active by the end of 2022 and accessible to all Illinoisans.

We need ongoing support for Cooperation for Liberation Study and Working Group[,] an already-existing space that is conducive to anti-authoritarian worker cooperative ideas within a Black liberation lens. And we need support to develop one for Spanish speakers, the seeds of which may already be in the works. We need at least a new, general one for anyone to attend.[1]

Compañero C (Chicago) is seeking collaborators in Chicago and, or Illinois to form a general worker cooperative reading group within an anti-authoritarian lens.

This could be a virtual, physical or hybrid reading group, depending on people’s capacities.

C proposes starting with six (6) public sessions within a twelve (12) month period with a planning meeting taking place between each session.

The Blast recommends that there be a two to three (2-3) month break after the twelve month period to reflect and re-assess capacity in coordination with other anarchists.

It would be great if the Illinois syndicalists could support such a space with resources and no red tape.

Money for such a project could likely be obtained through the local movement grantor Crossroads Fund to pay organizers and perhaps in coordination with Geo.coop[2] as a fiscal sponsor.

Chicago anarchists who’ve been meeting weekly for years to hold such space are willing to strive to develop a peer space for anyone who steps up to give advice and resources for planning and holding down such space.
